Immersive Games at the Village

Available during Open Lates in June, July, & August.

Prices per game are in addition to General Admission Rates.

General Admission Rates (per person):

  • THS Members: FREE
  • Non-members: $7/Adult, $5/Senior, $5/Youth 6-17
  • Children under 6: FREE

Payment is due upon arrival to the Village for your reserved game and you have a 15-minute grace period to pick-up your reserved game.

Reserving a game does not mean you have purchased General Admission tickets. You may purchase your General Admission tickets upon arrival when you pay for the game.

Rent an Immersive Game for your family or group of friends! Games include a private Escape Room in one of our historic building, Village Clue that will take you inside most buildings, or The Michigan Trail which will allows you to enjoy our Village Green space. A staff member will get your group started and teach you how to play. When you rent a game, you will also receive one coupon to a local Troy restaurant.

Museum Escape Room

Museum Escape Room is a cooperative game that gives you exclusive access to one of our historic buildings as you solve puzzles to create a map to a long-forgotten treasure hidden somewhere in the Village. To beat this game, you will need to find solves puzzles and find all the pieces to put together the treasure map and use the map to find the hidden treasure in the Village.

Learn as you play! The clues needed to solve various puzzles and riddles will use historic facts including real names and dates. You will also have to use books, maps, and other objects to find the treasure map pieces.

Here is what you need to know:

  • Number of Players: 2-6 people allowed per group
  • Recommended Age to Play: 12 years & older (1 player must be 16 years or older. Players under the age of 16 will need permission from their legal guardian to participate.)
  • Time Commitment: 1 hour time limit
  • Price: THS Members: $24/game | Non-members: $30/game

Village Clue

Village Clue will take you inside our historic building as you help detectives solve a murder. To win this game, you must be the first person in your group to determine the answer to these three questions: Who done it? Where? And with what Weapon?

Learn as you play! Facts about the historic figures that inspired the suspect list, our historic buildings, and the artifacts behind the weapon items will be found on your playing cards, so be sure to silently read everything on each card as you play.

  • Number of Players: 3-6 people allowed per group
  • Recommended Age to Play: 8 years & older (1 player must be 16 years or older. Players under the age of 16 will need permission from their legal guardian to participate.)
  • Time Commitment: approximately 1 hour to complete the game
  • Price: THS Members: $24/game | Non-members: $30/game

Michigan Trail

The Michigan Trail is a cooperative game that allows you to enjoy our Village Green and is played entirely outdoors. The goal is to have at least 1 member of your group survive the perilous Michigan Trail and reach Troy, Michigan, without everyone in your group dying a gruesome 19th century death along the way. Good luck – it's rough out there on the Trail.

Learn as you play! Facts about events, supplies, cities, and towns will be found on your playing cards, so be sure to read the entire card aloud as you play.

  • How do I become a Troy Historical Society (THS) Member? Click here to learn more about becoming a member and to purchase a membership.
  • Do I need to reserve a game in advance? No, but we would recommend it!
  • What happens if I miss my time slot? Can I still come? Yes! We will hold your reserved game for 15 minutes after your reservation (i.e. You reserve a game for 5:30pm, we will hold it until 5:45pm).
  • I registered online, but I have friends/family that want to join. The more the merrier! They can purchase General Admission tickets and pay their portion of the Immersive Game when they arrive, but please note each game has a maximum of 6 players.
  • Do I get a prize if I win a game? No, we don’t offer prizes, so we hope the satisfaction of winning is enough.
  • What coupon will my group get? Your group will select 1 coupon to City Barbeque, Buddy’s Pizza, or Stumblebum Beer Co. (for groups age 21 years and older).
  • Will I be able to get around easily using my wheelchair? Yes! The Village offers three accessible parking spaces in our west parking lot. All buildings have wheelchair-accessible entryways. Buildings are connected by a wide paved pathway. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available inside the Old Tory Church.
  • Will food or drink be available? No, Troy Historic Village does not sell food, nor do we have water fountains. You are welcome to bring a bottle of water, snacks, or picnic dinner to enjoy outdoors on the picnic tables. Please note we are a peanut free facility.
  • Can I bring my dog? Only service animals are allowed at the Village. We strive to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so please leave your pets at home.
  • Can we still play if it is raining? You can play Museum Escape Room and Village Clue if it is raining. We suggest bringing an umbrella to keep you dry was you walk between buildings, but otherwise you will be inside the whole time. You cannot play Michigan Trail if it is raining because it takes place entirely outdoors.

Parking & Directions

Troy Historic Village is located at 60 W. Wattles Road, Troy MI 48098 (northwest corner of Wattles and Livernois). There are two parking lots at the Village and you can park in either one. After you park, head inside the Main Building (the large brick building) to pay for your Immersive Game and purchase General Admission (if needed). We will have green and white signs to direct your path.
