Every Open Late

Take a Self-Guided Tour that lasts about one hour. Signs are posted inside and outside each building with information, but we encourage you to use our digital self-guided to enhance your experience with more text, photos, and videos. We do have a limited quantity of printed copies of the tour. Please let us know if you do not have a cell phone to access the digital tour! Download the tour ahead of time by clicking here. Self-Guided Tours are included with General Admission – no reservation needed.

Scavenger Hunts are always available for all ages. We have two different scavenger hunts:  A lower-level scavenger hunt with only images where you match animals to the building you find them in; an upper-level scavenger hunt using words and images where you match artifacts to the building they are located in. Both are great tools for children to practice using writing skills and provide a safe way to interact with our museum space. Completed scavenger hunts can be turned in for a prize at the end of the visit! Scavenger Hunts are super fun for children of all ages – including adults and seniors! Scavenger Hunts are included with General Admission – no reservation needed.

Rent an Immersive Game for your family or group of friends! We have three different games you can reserve and rent during your visit: Village Clue throughout most of our buildings and The Michigan Trail on our Village Green space. When you rent a game, you will also receive one coupon to a local Troy restaurant. Price per game in addition to General Admission and you can reserve a game in advance.

  • Does the Village close when it rains or snow? No! You can still visit us if it is raining or snowing! We do monitor the weather and are aware of severe weather threats and will adjust our programs as necessary.
  • How are Open Lates different than visiting during the day? Generally, Open Lates are very similar to visiting the Village during regular business hours except that we are Open Late! By extending our hours to 7pm on select days, people who work during the day, have school, or other commitments that prevent them from visiting during our regular day-time hours, will be able to visit and enjoy all that we offer. What does separate Open Lates from our regular day-time visits is the activities available! Scavenger Hunts and self-guided tours through the Village are available during the day-time regular hours. Visiting with History Interpreters and Immersive Games are only available to experience during Open Lates!
