Rental Process
Reserving the Village
To reserve the Village, the rental party is required to meet with our Events Rental Manager, sign a Rental Application and Contract, and provide a security deposit. The security deposit is refunded after the event if no additional charges have been incurred and if the event is not cancelled. Any custodial clean-up service or staff time, beyond what is specified in the contract, will be charged against the deposit on an hourly basis. The rental party also assumes financial responsibility for any damages to the buildings, furnishings, artifacts, or grounds, and these charges will be deducted from the deposit.
General Rental Questions
How do I arrange to tour the Village and reserve a date for my event?
Call our Events Rental Manager at 248-524-3303 to schedule a site tour and/or make an appointment to reserve a date for your event. Once you have selected your date and signed your rental contract, you can Make a Payment online.
Can we decorate the building(s) or outdoor areas?
Decorations are permitted as long as they follow the guidelines provided in the Rental Application and Contract. Other decorations must be approved by the Events Rental Manager. All decorations must be removed directly after your event within your rental time. Custodial costs will be deducted from the deposit if the Troy Historic Village staff disposes of decorations or other materials.
Do you allow tents, tables, and chairs for outdoor events?
Yes, rental parties may rent these items at their own expense though our exclusive vendor. Troy Historic Village management and the rental party will determine a schedule for set-up and removal of these items based on your contract. The Village also has 12 picnic tables available for your non-winter event at no additional cost.
Do you have indoor event space?
Yes, several areas within the Village are available to rent for your event. Our newest is the restored 1837 Niles-Barnard House/Event Gathering Venue, featuring a full warming kitchen, Wi-Fi, audio visual equipment, tables, chairs, and seating for up to 75 with an open floor plan for flexible setups. Also available is our 1800s Chapel for group gatherings, meetings, and, of course, elegant weddings. If you have a special occasion in mind, we can tailor an event package for you.
Do you allow musicians or music in the Village or buildings?
Yes, the Village has hosted DJs, violinists, and harpists, and depending on the rental package you select, we can make our piano inside the Chapel available to your pianist. Musicians/music are welcomed at the expense of the rental party.
Do you allow food trucks, outside caterers, or vendors?
Yes, the Events Rental Manager can work with you to provide examples of food truck, vendor, and caterer arrangements.
Are there discounts for Troy residents or City employees?
No resident or City of Troy employee discounts are available at this time.
Is there onsite parking?
Two onsite paved parking lots accommodate 48 vehicles. Overflow parking with access to the Village is available along Lange Street, the first residential street north of the Village (we ask that you do not block driveways or mailboxes). On your rental day, the onsite Village host can assist your guests with parking directions.
