Meet Our Guests!

Michigan Humane
Will be bringing dogs as part of their Dog Day Getaway program! By taking a shelter dog out for even a few hours during a Dog Day Getaway, we are helping them to take a break from the shelter, release some pent-up energy, visit some new people and places, and even meet potential adopters in the community. These dogs will be adoptable, but you will need to follow up with Michigan Humane the next day.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you have accessibility questions, please click here to visit our accessibility page or contact us at info@thvmail.org and we will be happy to help!
- How do I become a Troy Historical Society (THS) Member? Click here to learn more about becoming a member and to purchase a membership.
- Do I need to register in advance? No, but we would appreciate it!
- What happens if I miss my time slot? Can I still come? Yes! Please do. Our last admission for 2:20pm which will allow you enough time to visit see the Village.
- I registered online, but I have friends/family that want to join. The more the merrier! They can purchase General Admission tickets in person when they arrive.
- Can I bring a stroller or a wagon? Yes! We have a paved sidewalk throughout the Village. You are welcome to take the strollers and wagons inside the buildings (each one has a ramp entrance), and we ask that you are mindful about the spaces inside when driving the stroller or wagon through. Changing tables are available in General Store restrooms, and we have quite spaces through the Village if needed.
- Will I be able to get around easily using my wheelchair or walker? Yes! The Village offers three accessible parking spaces in our west parking lot. All buildings have wheelchair-accessible entryways. Buildings are connected by a wide paved pathway. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available inside the Old Tory Church.
- Will food or drink be available? No, Troy Historic Village does not sell food, nor do we have water fountains. You are welcome to bring a bottle of water, snacks, or a picnic dinner to enjoy outdoors on the picnic tables. Please note we are a peanut free facility.
- Can I bring my dog? Only service animals are allowed at the Village. We strive to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so please leave your pets at home.
- How long does it take to go through the Village? The average time to go through the Village is about 1 hour depending on how much time you spend in each building.
- Does the Village close when it rains? No! You can still visit us if it is raining! Remember the Village is a collection of buildings, so we suggest bringing an umbrella to keep you dry as you walk between buildings, but otherwise you will be inside the whole time. We do monitor the weather and are aware of severe weather threats and will adjust our programs as necessary.
- How are Free Open Houses different than visiting during the day? Generally, Free Open Houses are very similar to visiting the Village during regular business hours except that it is free! We also open the Niles-Barnard House which is typically closed during our regular ours. Depending on the season, Free Open Houses may also include special programs like the Adoption Event for our Free Fall Open House!
