Many war veterans have been laid to rest in Troy but what do we know of them before or after war? Discover connections written in stone as we show you the markers of soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and/or Civil War on this walking tour of Crooks Road Cemetery.

This rain or shine tour lasts about 90 minutes, requires some standing and walking over uneven ground.

This program will take place at Crooks Road Cemetery, located at 3701 Crooks Road in Troy, Michigan.

What to Expect

This tour is rain or shine. Please wear shoes that are meant for walking, standing, or potential wet grass. There is no bathroom at Crooks Cemetery, and no potable water. Please bring a water bottle if you need one!

• Can I get a refund for this program? Due to the cost of producing the program and transaction fees, we can only offer a 50% refund up your request. We do not offer full refunds for this program unless we (the Village) cancels or reschedules the program. We would also be happy to convert your registration into a tax-deductible donation and send a receipt upon request.
• Do I need to register in advance? Yes! You must register in advance. No walk-ins will be accepted at the cemetery.
• What happens if I miss my time slot? Can I still come? You are still welcome to come to the cemetery and catch the remaining portion of the tour. You may not attend another timeslot.
• Is this event held rain or shine? Yes, this program will be held rain or shine so please dress accordingly. In the case of extreme weather, we will try to reschedule the program.
• Will I be able to get around easily using my wheelchair or walker? No, there are no paved paths at the Crooks Road Cemetery, and this tour requires navigating through grassy and bumpy terrain around grave markers. Please use your own discretion when deciding to register for this tour.
• Will food or drink be available? No, there is no drinkable water or food available at the cemetery. Please bring your own bottle of water.
• Will a restroom be available? No, there are no public restrooms at the cemetery.
• Can I bring my dog? We prefer that only service animals attend this tour. We strive to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so please leave your pets at home.
• How long will the program last? This walking tour will last about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Parking and Directions

The Crooks Road Cemetery is located at 3701 Crooks Road, Troy, MI. Please park at the parking lot just past the cemetery on the right. THV staff will be wearing a green t-shirt and waiting to check you in (map below). After we check in, we will walk over to the cemetery to begin the tour!
