Intro to Coppersmithing
August 14-18, 10:00am-12:00pm 
THS Member: $210 or Non-member: $260 

Learn the art and science of coppersmithing as you create a unique small abstract sculpture. The proper use of hammers and other hand tools will be emphasized as you learn several cold forging techniques. The use of fire to “anneal” as the copper work hardens will also be included. Ages 11 and up only. No prerequisite.  Click here to register.  

 

 

 

Intermediate Coppersmithing
August 14-18, 6:00pm-8:30pm 
THS Member: $210 or Non-member: $260  

Learn the similarities and differences between copper and iron as you design and create a small abstract sculpture inspired by elements taken from works by famous artists such as Calder, Klee, Giacometti, and Dali. Emphasis will be on creating movement. Hot and cold forging, fold forming, chasing/repoussage and raising are some of the techniques you will learn and expand on in this weeklong workshop. Ages 16 and up only. Prerequisite: Basic Blacksmithing Level 1, or Adult-Child Blacksmithing, or past THV Coppersmithing Workshop.
