- A fun way to explore the great outdoors
- Geared toward fitness but often include some local history, too
- Great for walkers of all ages and levels of fitness—and many routes are canine-friendly!
October 3, 6pm: Scarecrow Row & Troy Trail
60 W. Wattles Road, Troy (Troy Historic Village)
This week’s walk is full of festive fall fun! We start at the Troy Historic Village, where tons of colorful and creative scarecrows have taken over the fence line. View Scarecrow Row up close on Livernois and Wattles, plus check out the athletic ‘crows of the College Gridiron. From the Village, we’ll walk to Troy Trail. Distance: 2 miles.
October 10, 6pm: Rochester River Walk
500 Olde Towne Road, Rochester (Rochester Hills Public Library) [west side of main lot] This walk on a rail trail takes us along the Paint Creek and under Rochester Road, past the Municipal Park and into Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve. Gravel trail is mostly flat. Distance: 2 – 3 miles.
October 17, 6pm: Clinton River Trail & Webster Cemetery
Clinton River Trail—Opdyke Rd Trailhead, Auburn Hills (between South Blvd. & Auburn Road)
We’ll take the Clinton River Trail over I-75, past Avondale High School, and out to Squirrel Road. Take a lap around historic Webster Cemetery, which was established in the early 19th century. Bonus points for spotting the original railroad ties! Out-and-back route is mostly flat. Distance: 3 miles. [Limited parking available at Opdyke Trailhead; extra parking less than ¼ mile away in the Salvation Army/Dollar General parking lot, also on the east side of Opdyke Rd.]
October 24, 6pm: Boulan Park & Crooks Road Cemetery
3671 Crooks Rd, Troy (Boulan Park)
Paved, well-lit trail circling Boulan Park athletic fields will also take us past historic Crooks Road Cemetery, established in the 1820s. Meet in the first parking lot on your right when you enter
the park. Distance: 1.25 – 2.5 miles
