Cheddar the Village Mouse is the official Mouse of the Troy Historic Village. Endlessly curious, he is always looking to help young people explore history and learn about the past.
Born in the log cabin that sits in the village, Cheddar’s family later moved to a more comfortable hole in the Caswell House. As a young mouse, Cheddar loved history. He attended Poppleton School and was voted “Mouse Likely to Succeed”. As he grew up, he helped his parents Muenster and Velveeta work in the General Store and Print Shop, and attended Church on Sundays at Old Troy Church. He frequently went next door to the Parsonage to visit with Minister Colby and learn more about the region.
Today, Cheddar and his many cousins are devoted to helping kids learn about history. Cheddar loves to play, and frequently scurries around his childhood buildings. He also plans to travel in 2014, spreading the word about all the great fun kids can have here at the Village!
As you explore the buildings and grounds, keep an eye out for Cheddar. Cheddar loves to hide and he loves being found even more. If you discover where he’s hiding, tell a village staff member and you’ll receive a prize.
